Should Car Insurance Pay for Oil Changes?

Okay, so I had this thought the other day. While it's not often that happens... but, I'll share it with you. The title of this blog kind of gives it away. Do you think our car insurance should pay for oil changes, new tires, brakes, etc.? This probably sounds absurd to most of you... Sure it would be nice but can you imagine what it would cost!!!

Now, what in the world does this have to do with "achieve total body health"? Well, this is the very thing we expect of our health insurance. Oil changes and other things for the car are expected parts of maintenance and normal wear and tear and, if we don't take care of the car, what happens? Yep, it falls apart and does not run well. Why then are we willing to put more time and money into taking care of our vehicles and not our bodies!!

Doing things such as massage, acupuncture, chiropractic care, eating healthy and working out are all part of "maintenance and taking care of normal wear and tear" on our bodies. Why do we settle for taxing the health care system with medication when we could simply take care of it the same way we do our vehicles? Health care reform is a very big debate in our country right now, imagine if we treated our cars like our bodies... or vice versa! Health insurance will continue to cost more the more we use it, just like our car insurance does!

Really.... The Good Day Pill

Okay, so spending as much time in my car as I do, alot of interesting things come on the radio. And, I'm a channel surfer -- It's the ADD in me I guess! Well, about a week ago I'm listening and a commercial comes on for the Good Day Pill?? Take a pill in the morning and you are guaranteed to have a great day. At first I thought, this can't be real. It sounded like one of those parodies ... Oh no, its real! The commercial was real anyway... Google did not uncover anything!

Really! How amazing our medicine has become, we can really develop anything. Talk about placebo. Actually, I am still in shock... And I'm sure they are making money as well! Anyway, my thoughts for this week. See you all next week!

Inauguration Thoughts...

So I actually sat down to watch the Inauguration and write our monthly newsletter. Instead, I found myself staring at the tv, unable to multitask. Those of you who know realized what a feat this is! Rarely is the time I am not doing many things at once.

How awesome the ceremony, regardless of where your support lies, what a great place we all live in. It seems through all the struggles over the past year, we seem to have forgotten that we live in a great country. As Bush handed over the office of presidency, what respect and support he showed! And Obama thanking him for his help in the transition. What a place we live in!

I find amazing that as a country, we have embraced this new president on the platform of CHANGE. Of all things, we so often seem to be resistant to that one thing. As much as we try, CHANGE happens whether we want it or not. Again, each of you has your own belief and varying support of this new administration but we can still encourage and create change. In the Inaugural speech, he touched on rebuilding many aspects of this country and how each and every one of us has a role to play.

While we have a hill to climb, it is a great opportunity for all of us to make specific changes in your life to help in this rebuilding process. We are all better with the support of others! Lets get back to knowing the important people in our lives, spending time with family and friends and recreating relationships. This can be done in times of economic stress and times of economic prosperity.

He touched on health care. Each one of us can take responsibility for our own lives and want to create a better environment. Taking control of what you can with regard to your own health will decrease our reliability on medicine.

He touched on how our spirit as a country stays no matter what gets thrown our way. Keep your spirits up and stay positive! Make the best choices you can in your life and whatever you do, enjoy yourself.

Please let us know your thoughts and experiences!
